I`ve seen the "check list" for people who would like to upload movies and i think that`s an nice idea!
I though maybe i can contribute to this project with a list of all movies i call my own which might be in the public domain
http://kotic.1.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=346
The whole list need to be checked and it sure need some cleaning!
There are some titles left in the list that are NOT in the public domain!
I`m just to lazy to delete them all from the list
But i think it`s something to start with

Cool, thanks! I started to watch "Detour" yesterday (until the children came in and drowned it out) and the print looked fine.

Hi,
I saw that you have Detour on your list. I saw a documentary on Film Noir last night and Detour looked great. Any chance you could upload it?
Thanks!
T

Actually, I had "Blood on the Sun" confused with "Blood on the Moon." :) "Eternally Yours" looks particularly good, though.

Incidentally, looking at the comments for "Child Bride," is that one going to be OK to upload? It kind of amazes me that the subject matter got past the Hays Office to begin with, but there also seems to be some debate at IMDb over a scene involving a girl skinny-dipping. I haven't seen it myself, so I don't know, but you might. What's your take on it; is it smutty or safe?

I see quite a few that look interesting. Just off the first look-through:
Blood on the Sun
Tanks a Million
Love from a Stranger
Child Bride
The Lady Refuses
The Animal Kingdom
Eternally Yours
Becky Sharp

Hmmm... That's a tough one, but I still think "Eternally Yours" looks fun. Could we have that one next?

I just discovered that my print of "Eternally Yours" is in a bad shape but i will upload it if it is okay with you

about finding out the copyright status of a movie... mmhh that can be a tough one
most of the b movies have several titles
if you give the Library of Congress website the wwrong title it might look like that the title is in the public domain but it is quite possible that the work is registered under another title in the us
i`m not an expert on that so i better don`t touch this topic

About ┬┤drive in movies┬┤ mmhh i`m not sure what that is
because in one way or the other all movies are cheesy ;)

It doesn't look too bad from the sample. What the heck, why not? Unless you'd rather go with "Child Bride." I have to admit, my curiosity is piqued with that one. It's interesting to see how Hollywood treated rural people in the 30s. It seems to have been just about as realistic as the treatment of minorities. Being something of a hick myself, I'm torn between laughing and cringing at it.

Do you know if you have any campy drive in movies in your collection. Speaking of cheesy films there is this film called "the Milpitas Monster"(1975) and searched for it on the Library of Congress website and there was no copyright notice for the film does that it public doamin? I am currently working on a project that involves cheesy drive in movies that is sort of like MST3K.

I'd love to have a good copy of Un Chien Andalou up instead of just the QuickTime version here now...

That list is great. There are a few I'd like to see. If anyone could upload the following (which are on that list), I'll be forever greatful.

Across 110th Street
Seven Notes in Black
The Dead Are Alive
Communion (1976)
Prey (1978)
Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974)
The Grand Duel
What?
The Burglars

Thanks A Lot! They look great (And I'm a sucker for 70's Classics).

BTW, Detour is a masterpiece. I can honestly call it my all time favourite film.
